COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This 4 day workshop will focus on painting the nude figure from life.
On the 3rd day we will have a special museum day in the afternoon where we will have lunch at the Cantor Museum Stanford University, lecture demo and students drawing from the sculptures.
We will begin with a limited palette, using mostly earth colors for the first two days. Kamille will emphasize intelligent and dynamic drawing, basic anatomy, and achieving a broad light effect. During the second half of the course, we will use a more extended color palette, discussing aspects of color theory and tips on being able to see color within skin tones. We will be utilizing various base mixtures in order to efficiently apply color, as well as working with impasto + transparent brushwork.
Students will be developing their painting by building solid form with correct values, sharpening their skills with naturalistic color application and focusing on confident brushwork. Although we will be progressing each day in a step-by-step manner, this course will emphasize strong intuitive color mixing + application, and will encourage students to step away from formulaic methods, in order to develop their unique way of seeing and applying color.
Kamille will be painting alongside the students and giving individual critiques daily.
