Description:
In this workshop, students will draw the portrait from life using PanPastel and charcoal. The class emphasizes accuracy in both block-in and form modeling, using sponge-tip tools that feel much like painting while working with drawing materials.
The first day will be dedicated to blocking-in, where students will strengthen their skills in comparative measurement and shape recognition through both additive and subtractive methods. With the block-in established and clear light and shadow shapes defined, the focus will shift to modeling form and values. Students will be introduced to the conceptual principles of light on form, moving beyond purely visual observation toward a deeper, more systematic understanding of three-dimensional structure.
Working from a three-day pose, participants will develop patience, focus, and precision while creating a carefully studied drawing. Demonstrations and personalized instruction will support each student throughout the process.
This course is open to beginners and experienced artists alike, offering a clear, structured approach to portrait drawing and a solid foundation for further study. All levels welcome.
